TRADEMARK PARTNERING WITH RICE IN THE VILLAGE
FORT WORTH, Texas (May 15, 2014) – Trademark Property Co. has been selected by Rice Management Company, which has responsibility for the Rice University endowment, to oversee asset and property management, leasing, and repositioning of the Village Arcade, a 195,000-square-foot open-air fashion-focused retail center that anchors the beloved and historic Rice Village district of Houston, Texas.
Rice University has exercised an option to acquire the leasehold interest in this two-level center from the developer and current owner, Weingarten, with closing set for the third quarter of this year. Located west of Rice University, the Village Arcade is the largest retail property in Rice Village and features 50 stores and restaurants, 60 percent national, including, Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Athleta, Banana Republic, Chico’s, Gap, Kendra Scott, MAC, Sephora, Soma, Starbucks, Victoria’s Secret and White House | Black Market.
Trademark and Rice plan to improve the shopping experience throughout the property and Rice Village more broadly via enhanced streetscape, landscaping, storefronts and facades that will set the stage for the modern evolution of this eclectic urban mixed-use district, which dates back to the 1930s.
