CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Nov. 29, 2011) – The holiday shopping season is off to a stellar start with tens of thousands of shoppers opening their wallets for holiday gift purchases.
Several Coastal Bend charities are hoping shoppers continue their spending ways to support several charitable events and services at La Palmera over the next few weeks.
Shoppers can take advantage of the gift-wrapping service available Friday through Sunday from noon-6 p.m. on the first three weekends of December, plus two bonus days Christmas week. Volunteers representing several local charities, each staffing a different weekend, will be stationed on the main level near Concierge and Forever XXI, providing their wrapping services for donations. This year’s charities are the American Red Cross (Dec. 2-4), Bikes for Kids Foundation (Dec. 9-11), CASA of the Coastal Bend (Dec. 16-18) and Big Brothers and Big Sisters (Dec. 22-23).
Santa is available for visits and photos with boys and girls through Dec. 24 in Center Court during mall holiday hours, but pet lovers can also bring their favorite kitty or canine for the popular “Pet Night with Santa,” Tuesday Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 from 5-8:30 p.m. A portion of the photo proceeds from those events will benefit PALS (Dec. 6) and the Gulf Coast Humane Society (Dec. 13). Only dogs and cats are permitted and all animals must remain on a leash or in a carrier at all times.
The Salvation Army Angel Trees are also in place, located on the mall’s upper level as well as the traditional bell ringing campaigns at the mall entrances.
