After years of planning and discussion, redevelopment plans for a prominent shopping center in north Arlington are moving forward.
The 470,000-square-foot shopping center on North Collins Street south of I-30 known as Lincoln Square was built in the 1980s. Arlington officials have spent years strategizing about the area’s revitalization following a long-term decline in property values, shifting ownership, and reduced local activity.
The area is home to large tenants such as Studio Movie Grill, Office Depot and Olive Garden. Now, the city is moving forward with a Fort Worth developer’s plans aiming to bring more life to the area under a new name: Anthem.
Arlington City Council unanimously approved the creation of a Public Improvement District and incentives to Trademark Property Co. to redevelop the area during a meeting Feb. 24. The Arlington Economic Development Corp. board also unanimously approved the agreement.
