One of the fastest-growing frozen dessert concepts is opening in Fort Worth this week.

Popbar, a New York City-based gelato shop, is opening in WestBend on Friday. The concept’s first-ever Texas location will span 1,021 square feet in a space between HG Sply Co. and CorePower Yoga, at 1621 River Run, Suite 171.

Popbar will serve handcrafted gelato, sorbetto, and yogurt on a stick, as its name implies. Customers will have the chance to make their own custom creation using Popbar’s menu of 40-plus rotating flavors, dippings and toppings.

“Popologists” will produce small batches of 26 popbars at a time, made in-house and using natural ingredients. Additionally, Popbar will offer other frozen sweets such as frozen hot chocolate, popBites, and Ultimate Double Shakes — a blend of any two Popbars, garnished with chocolate flakes. Popbars are completely gluten-free, as are most of the toppings, with the exception of the crushed waffle cone.

“Popbar has an especially unique story —  it is a concept we pursued in direct response to customer requests for a place to have frozen treats at WestBend,” said Terry Montesi, CEO of Trademark Property Co., which manages WestBend. “We’re happy we were able to deliver on this and look forward to announcing additional new-to-market tenants in the coming months.”
