Fort Worth-based developer Trademark Property Co. has formally closed on the acquisition of a 3.5-acre tract contiguous to its 278,000-square-foot WestBend mixed-use development along the Trinity River within Fort Worth’s University District.
The deal closes as Trademark Property Co. has signed two new restaurant and retailers — Dallas-based Ascension Coffee and Dear Hannah — that will make their foray into Cowtown with these deals.
Ascension Coffee announced Monday it planned to open a restaurant and large patio at Thanksgiving Tower in downtown Dallas and appears to be in expansion mode. And they aren’t the only ones expanding in WestBend.
The expansion site is currently occupied by a Hawthorn Suites. Trademark Property is underway on conceptual plans to develop it into additional mixed-use with ground-floor retail, a signature hotel and apartments.
“We’re seeing a significant leasing momentum at WestBend, and the acquisition of land to the south allows us to continue to build on that momentum by offering greater frontage on University Drive and the Trinity Trails, added retail and restaurant space, along with a boutique hotel and multi-family units, both of which we see high demand for in the market” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi, in a statement.
Montesi said he believes the expanded WestBend development along Fort Worth’s Trinity River is one of the best pieces of real estate in North Texas.
Ascension Coffee, a coffee and wine bar, has signed a lease for 2,420 square feet of retail space. Dear Hannah has signed a lease for 1,354 square feet of storefront. Each concept plans to open at WestBend this fall.
The two retailers join Drybar, HG Sply Co., Core Power Yoga, Zoe’s Kitchen and East Hampton Sandwich Co. among others at WestBend, which is undergoing a massive transformation.
