NEW FORT WORTH WATERSIDE DEVELOPMENT BRINGS FIRST
WHOLE FOODS MARKET TO THE CITY
Pre-leasing of Waterside continues; first “Conscious Place” development for Trademark
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 29, 2014) – Trademark Property Co., the Fort Worth-based retail and mixed-use development, investment, and third-party services firm, today announced that Whole Foods Market® will be coming to Waterside, the new 63-acre master planned mixed-use development to be built on the site of the former Lockheed Martin Recreation Association in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 45,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market, the first in Fort Worth, will offer a large selection of natural and organic products with features unique to Waterside and tailored to the local community, including a large outdoor seating area. Whole Foods Market is scheduled to open by Spring 2016.
“We are thrilled to bring Whole Foods Market to Fort Worth,” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi. “There is no retailer more in demand in our hometown than Whole Foods Market and it’s the perfect fit for our development. Waterside, the first place of its kind, will take the retail/mixed-use experience to a new level.”
Located on the Trinity River, Waterside will be a walkable shopping, leisure, office, hotel and residential district with an unmatched amenity package, including a new extension of the Trinity Trail. With unsurpassed access from all of central, west and southwest Fort Worth, including the TCU area, plans for the development include 185,000 square feet of retail space and riverside restaurants, 20-30 acres of multi-family and townhomes, 100,000-200,000 square feet of office space, and a signature hotel site. Pre-leasing continues with construction scheduled to begin in the fall, and Phase I scheduled to open fall of 2015.
Waterside is Trademark’s first “Conscious Place” project, a next-generation sustainable development model being done in partnership with Whole Foods Market. A place of commerce, community and meaning, amenities will engage guests and bring people together by educating, inspiring, promoting wellness and making customers feel cared about, all designed to make a difference in the community and the world.
“We are excited to open a Fort Worth store and to be a part of the Conscious Place collaboration with Trademark,” said Mark Dixon, President/Southwest Region of Whole Foods Market. “The development aligns with our core values and we look forward to being part of the growth and success of the area.”
Conscious Place plans call for a variety of amenities, many of them unique to Waterside, including an “information station” with interactive displays, as well as a designated area for community promotion, and a covered community pavilion with inspirational quotes, photos and videos. Another feature is The Grove, a one-of-a-kind outdoor space built around several existing large heritage trees, including adult and children’s play areas, and outdoor patios for restaurants, both conventional and micro-restaurants, akin to permanent food trucks.
“We are anxious to begin developing this beautiful piece of land, with more than a mile-and-a-half of river frontage access to the Trinity Trail,” said Montesi. “This site truly has it all and we plan to be extraordinary stewards.”
