Trademark Property Company Bolsters Development Team With Industry Veterans

Strategic additions solidify cohesive leadership to execute and expand firm’s mixed-use pipeline

DALLAS (Sept. 26, 2024)  — Trademark Property Company (Trademark), a mixed-use investor, developer and operator, today announces the hiring of Lance Taylor as Senior Vice President of Development and Blake Bickmore as Vice President of Development. Working alongside Vice President of Development Monica Luera, the team will steer the growth of the firm’s retail and mixed-use development pipeline, which currently encompasses nearly one million square feet.

“With capital markets thawing for retail and mixed-use real estate, Trademark is well-positioned to execute on our existing development and redevelopment pipeline and capture additional opportunities across various, high-growth markets,” said Terry Montesi, CEO of Trademark. “Trademark’s development capacity is at an all-time high, ready to take advantage of the current supply-demand imbalance.”

With a combined 50+ years of experience, the team will oversee new and existing developments, redevelopments, and the management of project and tenant construction teams. They will also scout development opportunities in high-growth markets, leveraging proprietary research and retailer relationships to identify target markets for expansion.

“Owing to Terry’s expertise and Trademark’s success in securing entitlements and engaging in public-private partnerships, I’ve long admired the firm’s ability to thoughtfully execute transformative retail-anchored developments that positively impact communities,” said Taylor. “I’m energized by the opportunity to work with this talented development team to deliver on the vision Terry has empowered us with. We are at a unique inflection point in our industry, and Trademark is strategically placed to capitalize on this momentum.”

Trademark’s active development pipeline includes nearly one million square feet in new ground-up and redevelopment projects. The team is currently managing the redevelopment of dated shopping center Lincoln Square into a vibrant mixed-use gathering place in Arlington, Texas.

“When you blend our robust backgrounds in development, acquisitions, merchandising, investment, leasing, and capital improvements, the Trademark team has substantial fire power behind it,” added Bickmore. “We are committed to identifying exceptional opportunities that align with Trademark’s goals and elevate the firm as one of the first movers in this new cycle of retail and mixed-use development.”

Having previously served in various leadership roles directing the management of significant development pipelines, leading strategic acquisitions, determining investment potential, and engaging unique tenant occupiers, Taylor brings with him a deep well of experience to lead the next phase of Trademark’s retail and mixed-use platform. He most recently served as vice president of acquisitions and development at Newmark Merrill Companies, where he augmented the company’s Mountain West portfolio of shopping centers. His accomplishments include leading $1.3 billion in gross transaction volume totaling 11.5 million square feet, as well as executing 1.6 million square feet of ground-up shopping center development and 2 million square feet of redevelopments. He was also involved in 11.5 million square feet of asset management across retail, office, industrial, and multifamily assets in approximately 60 municipalities. Taylor graduated from the University of Texas – Austin with a Bachelor’s of Marketing and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Drawing upon his extensive experience across firms including Reef Capital Partners, The Dilweg Companies, and Crescent Communities, where he most recently served as Director of Development, Bickmore will be instrumental in driving key development wins at Trademark. He has managed the development, design, zoning, capital procurement, and capital improvements of significant projects throughout the Sunbelt region, with notable developments including Charlotte and North Carolina projects Escent Research Park and Elizabeth on 7th. Key acquisitions in his portfolio include the acquisition of 101 N. Tryon in Charlotte and the Southbridge retail redevelopment portfolio in Scottsdale, Arizona. He received a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina – Kenan-Flagler Business School.
