FORT WORTH, Texas (April 10, 2013) – Trademark Property Co., the Fort Worth-based retail and mixed-use development, investment and 3rd party services firm, today announced T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods, two of the nation’s leading value priced retailers, will open this fall at The Shops at La Palmera, a 200,000-square-foot outdoor shopping center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Both retailers are owned by The TJX Companies, Inc. the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide.
Construction has now begun on the 44,750-square-foot space accommodating the two new stores, which will be located adjacent to one another, each with a separate store entrance. Once inside, shoppers can move freely between the two stores.
With nearly 1,000 locations in the U.S., this will be the first T.J. Maxx location in Corpus Christi, the retailer known for its rapidly changing assortment of fashionable, quality brand-name merchandise at prices 20-60% less than department stores. This will also be the first Corpus Christi HomeGoods, specializing in home fashions and furniture, decorative accessories and giftware.
“We are pleased at the caliber of retailers we continue to bring to The Shops at La Palmera,” said Trademark Chairman and CEO Terry Montesi. “T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods are leaders in providing a rapidly changing assortment of value priced quality merchandise and they will be a welcome addition to the retail mix in the Corpus Christi.”
Renovation and construction work continues at The Shops at La Palmera, with work well underway on the recently announced Dick’s Sporting Goods, which is set to open this fall. Construction will soon be wrapping up on Corner Bakery, which is scheduled to open in June.
The new design of the property will complement that of Trademark’s La Palmera, a 1-million-square-foot super regional mall located across from The Shops at La Palmera. La Palmera underwent a two-year $50 million renovation after Trademark and Institutional Mall Investors LLC purchased the property in 2008.
