Terry Montesi Named in Top 100 Most Influential People in Texas Business

Trademark Property Company, the storied firm behind many staple mixed-use developments in North Texas, is entering the multifamily market. The Fort Worth-based company developed Alliance Town Center in partnership with Hillwood and other iconic projects in North Texas. Now the company is actively looking for multifamily deals in North Texas. “The need for new retail space has clearly declined,” said Montesi, founder and CEO of Trademark. “So, we’re doing a lot of redevelopment, not a lot of ground-up retail development and we see the continuing benefits of integrated mixed-use.” The company has been around for 29 years and has delivered about $4.5 billion in developing, redeveloping and investing. While many of Trademark Property’s projects have contained multifamily, Montesi said the company hadn’t been a multifamily developer in the past. “The capital markets are much more interested in integrated mixed-use when it has multifamily in it because the capital markets perceive multifamily as much less risky,” Montesi said.
