Connecticut-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: HOT) plans to build a new Aloft-branded hotel at Allen’s Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, a mixed-use development that recently committed to an $85 million convention center hotel.
The convention center hotel has opened to the door in Allen for other hospitality options, such as this hotel.
Upon completion, the new 136-room Aloft hotel on W. Bethany Drive in Watters Creek will be owned by Watters Creek Hospitality LLC and managed by Aimbridge Hospitality.
Plans for the hotel include bringing a 24-hour gym, pool, the Aloft signature bar, a grab-and-go food and beverage area and 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting space for business meetings and other gatherings.
“We expect the new hotel to appeal to both business and leisure travelers with its lively social atmosphere and distinctive aesthetic, as well as its desirable location,” said Terry Montesi, CEO of Fort Worth-based Trademark Property Co., which owns and manages the mixed-use development.
The new Aloft hotel will bring loft-like, tech-centric rooms in an energetic atmosphere to the City of Allen as the Aloft brand rapidly expands through Texas, said Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of specialty select brands for Starwood.
In the next three years, Aloft is set to open 10 new hotels, which will more than double its footprint in the Lone Star state. The new Aloft hotel in Allen is slated to open in March 2018.
