In January, after weeks of rumors, official confirmation came that New York-based Shake Shack would be opening a restaurant in the Galleria.
Now there’s more good news for fans of Danny Meyer’s juggernaut burger joint. Houston is getting a second Shake Shack.
Shake Shack will take over a space on the corner of Kirby and Amherst in Rice Village. The space currently is occupied by La Madeleine.
Shake Shack is known for its Angus beef burgers, flat-top hot dogs, crinkle cut French fries and frozen custard shakes. The business launched as a food cart inside Madison Square Park in New York in 2000.
“For Rice Village, the addition of Shake Shack is a real game changer,” Rice Village General Manager Donna Molho said in a release. “It’s a big part of our goal to create a fresh, vibrant experience for our shoppers.”
Don’t start salivating just yet as the official opening date for the Rice Village location isn’t expected to be announced before 2017.
