Expansion work has begun on WestBend, a mixed-use development located in Fort Worth, Texas, that is undergoing a major redevelopment.
Crews began demolition on the parking garage located on the southeast corner of WestBend to make way for a new 81,150-square-foot building. The new building will include a retail anchor on the ground floor with 57,650 square feet of Class A office space directly above. Located along the Trinity Trail, the office building will have views over the trail, the Fort Worth Zoo and downtown.
“We are excited to re-start our West Bend development,” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi. “We look forward to the completion of our 278,000-square-foot mixed-use project, which will add a walkable urban experience to the already successful University District and its existing conventional retail. We will have several restaurants on the Trinity Trail with large trailside patios and additional shaded public spaces representing a significant evolution of the District.”
Crews recently removed four mature trees for relocation elsewhere on the property as part of the redevelopment plans.
WestBend is located on the Trinity River in Fort Worth’s University District, one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s strongest infill retail corridors, directly across from University Park Village on University Drive. Current tenants include Zoes Kitchen, Smashburger, Silver Fox and the River Plaza office tenants. Upon completion in spring 2015, WestBend will include 95,000 square feet of retail and dining, and 183,000 square feet of office space.
